Sustainable business practices that apply to everyone
- Reduce/Reuse/Recycle
- Use plates and silverware, instead of paper products and plastic utensils
- Reuse office supplies as possible; file folders, binders, hanging folders
- Recycle empty ink cartridges to www.greenschoolproject.com and support local schools
- Turn off office equipment when not in use
- Promote use of BT (Blacksburg Transit), biking, walking & car pooling

- Implement alternate work schedules (4 day work week or telecommuting)
- Try not to purchase pre-packaged products
- Buy Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs and TCLP compliant Low Mercury fluorescent lights
- Recycle flourescent lights at the Sanitation Department for a small fee or recycle small bulbs at Home Depot.
- Electronic recycling is available at the
Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority. Items that can be recycled are televisions, computers, stereos, household electronics @.35 cents per pound (Check or cash) M-F 8-4 Sat 8-12pm.
- Compost coffee grounds and food debris
- Provide employees with small fans and cut back on air conditioning
